Analyzing the layout of composite textures

چکیده
The synthesis of many textures can be simplified if they are first decomposed into simpler subtextures. Such bootstrap procedure allows to first consider a ‘label texture’, that captures the layout of the subtextures, after which the subtextures can be filled in. A companion paper focuses on this latter aspect. This paper describes an approach to arrive at the label texture. Pairwise pixel similarities are computed by matching simple color and texture features histograms in pixel neighbourhoods, using efficient mean-shift search. A graph-based, unsupervised algorithm segments the image into subtextures, based on the similarities. Keywords—segmentation, composite textures, texture synthesis

Parallel Composite Texture Synthesis
-Many textures require complex models to describe their intricate structures. Their modeling can be simplified if they are considered composites of simpler subtextures. After an initial, unsupervised segmentation of the composite texture into the subtextures, it can be described at two levels. One is a label map texture, which captures the layout of the different subtextures. The other consists...
متن کاملRealistic Textures for VR
In the construction of 3D site models, much more emphasis has been put on the creation of the 3D shapes than on their textures. Nevertheless, the overall visual impression will often depend more on these textures than on the precision of the underlying geometry. The paper proposes a hierarchical texture modeling and synthesis technique to simulate the intricate appearances of building materials...
متن کاملRealistic Visualization of Archaeological Sites: the Need for Texture
In building 3D site models for visualization and virtual walkthrough, most emphasis so far has been on creating the 3D shape models. Less emphasis has been on creating realistic textures, e.g. to simulate building materials or vegetation. Nevertheless, the appearance of object and landscape models will depend at least as much on their textures, as on the precision of their geometry. The paper p...
متن کاملImpact of Layout Sequence of the Natural and Synthetic Adsorbents in Double-Layered Composites on Improving the Natural Fiber Acoustic Performance Using the Numerical Finite Element Method
Introduction: The acoustic performance of natural fiber adsorbents has been investigated in numerous studies. A part of these materials show a poor adsorption within the frequency range of less than 1000 Hz. In the present study, attempts were made to investigate the effect of layout sequence of double-layered composites consisting of natural and synthetic fibers on improving the acoustic adsor...
